By joining the BCS today, you can become a member of the South West branch and will be more than welcome to join us for our regular meetings and to contribute to the articles and resources available on this web site.Welcome to the website for the South West branch of the BCS (British Computer Society). This is one of the largest geographical branches covering all of Devon and Cornwall, specifically the postal codes EX, PL, TQ, TR. The Branch has about 1000 members.
Our monthly meetings are generally held between October and May. Events are usually held in either Plymouth or Exeter, there is no charge (unless indicated) and everyone is welcome.

Modern organisations are now entirely dependent upon interconnected high speed computing, which introduces a wide range of ICT security risks. In theory, the mitigation of the risks is straight forward, however in practice there are many obstacles faced by ICT departments in providing a totally secure computing environment the business can rely upon. This will look at some of the risks faced by an organisation, and the obstacles preventing mitigation against these risks.
